Pusha T looks like he might have taken some shots at Drake and Birdman on his new collaboration with Wale — listen to “Damage Control” below.
Produced by Don Cannon, the Clipse rapper’s verse appears to attack his two rivals with some clever wordplay. “The realest Birdman, I just cock-a-doodle-doo/Doorstep, doorstep, I get it right through/Money talk, money talk, the wrist is light blue/Sugarhill sweet, shit is feeling type 2/Bruised egos, man, you n***as might sue/New Jack Ninos telling on the crew,” he spits.
The Birdman reference is clear since he says his name, but the potential Drake reference is a bit more obscure — seemingly pointing to the defamation lawsuit that Drizzy recently filed against Universal Music Group.
Drake’s lawsuit was filed in January. In it, he alleged that the record label “approved, published, and launched a campaign to create a virtual hit out of a rap track” that was “intended to convey the specific, unmistakable, and false factual allegation that Drake is a criminal pedophile, and to suggest that the public should resort to vigilante justice in response.”
In April, Drake expanded the lawsuit and alleged that he was defamed by Kendrick Lamar‘s halftime performance at Super Bowl 59. In the amended lawsuit, Drake’s team claimed that Lamar’s performance, “further solidified the public’s belief in the truth of the allegations against Drake … Not only did streams of the recording increase significantly following these two mega-cultural events, but threats against Drake and his family did as well.”

In June, Pusha T addressed Drake taking legal action against UMG during an interview with GQ in which he expressed his disgust.
“The suing thing is bigger than some rap shit,” Push said. “I just don’t rate you. Damn, it’s like it just kind of cheapens the art of it once we gotta have real questions about suing and litigation. Like, what? For this?”
In the same interview, Push answered the question of whether he’d get back into a rap battle with Drake again, suggesting that he doesn’t feel like doing that at this point in his rap journey. “Man, I would only engage again if I felt like it,” he said.
Pusha T and Birdman’s beef has been going on since the early 2000s, spared by the Cash Money Records co-founder’s financial dispute with the Neptunes. He’s also been very vocal about his belief that Birdman hindered Lil Wayne‘s career by restricting his creative freedom and financial opportunities.
