Max B has revealed he’s officially squashing his years-long beef with Jim Jones and is embracing a new chapter in his life that’s filled with growth, maturity, and elevation.
During a recent interview with Drink Champs, Max B called in from Northern State Prison in New Jersey to give an update on his life behind bars. According to Max, his time in prison has changed his outlook on many things, including his feud with Jones. Now that he is scheduled to be released from prison on November 9 of this year, he wants to start anew with his former business partner.
“Listen, Jim said a bunch of hard shit about me. So, we all say hard shit about each other, okay?” said Max. “Jim done wished me dead, all type of shit. It’s all good. Listen, man. It’s love, man. I want to start over. I’m a new man. I’m a married man. I got four kids.”
He added, “Like, I’m on a whole different time right now, my n***a I’m out here to get my money and ride out the sunset with this shit. It’s in there for me, though. I’m going tell you that. So that’s the goal.”
Max also clarified that he doesn’t regret any of the “misunderstandings” he had with Jones because it would mean questioning the path he feels he was meant to be on. The Harlem native also claimed that everyone has made mistakes, including himself and Jones, but there’s always an opportunity to grow from the darkness.

“At the end of the day, we all grow,” said Max. “We overcome, man. We all got responsibilities. It’s time to elevate. Time to build. You know what I’m saying? It’s time to get ready to pass this shit down to the young man, the young man’s world.”
He added, “So, you know, this little opportunity, I get this one last ride. The way I’m a give it to y’all is…I’ma justdo what I do best, music and media and I’m a justgive y’all great work and consistency and entertainment. And y’all n***as going to eat this shit. Y’all bros going eat it up.”
These two rappers began feuding in 2008 after Max left Jones’ ByrdGang record label due to financial issues with his contract. The exit turned into a full-fledged beef where both rappers and their crews were pitted against each other. The feud began to slow down in 2009 when Max was sentenced to 75 years in prison following a botched robbery that left one man dead. Max ended up taking a 20-year plea bargain before taking another reduction that brought his total time in prison to 12 years.
This isn’t the first time Max has called for a truce with Jones, despite the latter continuing to ignore or dismiss the situation. In 2020, Max explained his beef with Jones was just a clash of egos while hinting things would’ve been handled differently if cooler heads had prevailed.
“It was just egos clashing. A lack of respect. That shit don’t mix well, and next thing you know, we beefing,” he said at the time. “So, as far as the content or whatever, it should’ve went a different way. I think today, we would’ve handled the situation different.”
