Lala Baptiste is speaking out after being named in alleged texts from Halle Bailey shared by DDG. Below, we take a closer look.
What did Halle Bailey allegedly say about DDG and Lala Baptiste?
As previously reported, one of the alleged texts in question saw Bailey writing in March 2024 to DDG, with whom she shares a child, “I just found out you slept with Lala in Mexico.” Although not specified, many assumed the “Lala” mentioned in the text to be Lala Baptiste.
The texts were shared widely after being made public via DDG’s request for a domestic violence restraining order. In the request, additional alleged texts included threats of self-harm. Per TMZ, DDG’s efforts at legal action aimed at preventing Bailey and their son from leaving the country had failed as of Thursday, June 5.
DDG’s allegations against Halle were preceded by accusations from his former romantic partner. In May, Bailey accused DDG of abuse.
How did Lala Baptiste respond to speculation she hooked up with DDG?
In the clip below, Lala, who previously made headlines in connection with Rubi Rose and Lil Tjay issues, explained that she and DDG, born Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., have a strictly “platonic” relationship, and always have.
“The context behind these accusations in general is stemming from a group trip that our whole friend group went on,” Lala said, adding that everyone who embarked on this outing together is able to “confirm” that nothing untoward occurred.
“Everyone on this trip can confirm there was nothing weird going on,” she said. “I wasn’t even staying near them. It was for someone’s birthday. Let’s start there. There was never anything sneaky going on. Like, me and Darryl’s relationship has always been strictly started off as business, obviously. If you know you know.”
Lala continued, “He put me on to YouTube. Started off there, grew into a friendship, has always remained platonic. So it’s very unfortunate. Like, I know people already have this narrative because it’s just hard to believe that a guy and a girl can be friends. Like, it’s hard to believe that me and him or any other guy and girl can just strictly be platonic friends, okay? But nothing has ever gone on past that, ever.”
