Kilohearts has introduced a new addition to its Essentials collection of free effect plugins.
Designed to deliver precision ducking, Kilohearts Compactor is a limiter/ducker with sidechain functionality that operates at the per-sample level, enabling extremely tight ducking and maximum loudness without the pumping artifacts typically associated with compression.
It also provides a quick and straightforward way to achieve the effect sometimes referred to as “Ring Mod Sidechain,” but with added flexibility and control.
Compactor offers attack, hold, release, threshold, and range controls, along with three detection modes: Peak, RMS, and ISP. A stereo dial allows users to control the amount of stereo independence. Together, these features give producers and mix engineers the ability to balance transparency, loudness, and precision to suit their needs.
Kilohearts Compactor is available as a free download as part of the Kilohearts Essentials collection of plugins. It can be used as a standalone plugin (VST/VST3, AU and AAX) in any DAW or as a Snapin within Kilohearts Snapin Hosts such as Snap Heap, Multipass, and Phase Plant.
As with all Kilohearts plugins, Kilohearts Compactor comes with free lifetime updates.
