The artist formerly known as Kanye West has not accused Kim Kardashian—whom he was married to from 2014 to 2022— of multiple custody agreement violations, Complex has confirmed. TMZ initially reported that the letter was authentic but later clarified the cease and desist letter was not real. The letter, according to TMZ, also accused Kim Kardashian of leaving “their 11-year-old daughter unattended in a vehicle during portions” of the Met Gala.
In the letter originally reported by TMZ— which the outlet has since called a “hoax,”—Ye and current wife Bianca Censori’s lawyer were cited as demanding Kim cease actions that allegedly violated Ye’s parental rights, exploited his children, and breached their joint custody agreement. The debunked letter also claimed North was exposed to “significant media attention” at this week’s Met Gala in New York.
Now, TMZ is reporting that a source with direct knowledge said Kim’s team is treating the purported cease and desist letter as a publicity stunt, adding that her attorney, Laura Wasser, has not received anything. Kanye’s camp, when reached by Complex, denied any involvement with the letter.
A rep for YZY also told Complex that Ye never hired the aforementioned law firm.
Other claims made in the alleged letter include denial of custodial access (including a repeat of the disputed allegation that Ye has not seen his son, Saint, in 2025) and exploitation without consent.
The fake demands include the following: stop “publishing or authorizing” the use of photos and video of Ye and Kim’s children on social media, stop involving the children in public events without prior consent from Ye, “regular and unimpeded access” for Ye to the children, and the removal of “all existing social media content” of the children to which Ye did not consent.
