Kai Cenat wasn’t thrilled when a fan hijacked his livestream with a pro-Ye rant.
The Twitch star found himself in an uncomfortable position while attending the American Music Awards on Monday (May 26), when he was suddenly approached by a man, accompanied by his daughter and wife, who inquired about the artist formerly known as Kanye West.
“Hey, where’s Kanye?” asked the man, as Cenat laughed politely.
“We want to say we love Ye,” the man continued. “We love Ye for being outspoken regardless because it’s America and I think it’s a great thing to live in a free country. Don’t you, Kai? It’s a free country and it’s cool to have opinions.”
Cenat hit back, “You really hopped on my stream, knowing my influence, to come on here and say that?”
“I think he’s a great guy,” the man noted, before suggesting the popular streamer should “have a dialogue with him.”
“Here’s what I’ma say, I think I want to protect my energy,” Cenat responded.
“I think you letting him talk is a good thing,” added the man.
“I’m gonna politely ask you: get out of here, guys,” Cenat said as the man tried to say that having “opinions is a good thing.” “Please, I get it, but I don’t want that. Whatever you got going on, you deal with that.”
He quickly switched gears when he was approached by two members of the Marines in uniform asking him for selfies.
Ye’s erratic behavior in recent months, including repeated antisemitic sentiments and praise for Adolf Hitler, derailed a planned livestream Cenat intended to do with the rapper in Japan.
Elsewhere at the AMAs, Cenat was visibly surprised when Eminem won Favorite Male Hip-Hop Artist, beating out Drake, Future, Kendrick Lamar, and Tyler, The Creator.
“Let’s be real. I fuck with Slim Shady but let’s be real,” he said during his stream. “Eminem is tough but let’s be real though, gang.”
