Jim Jones has shared details of his relationship with longtime partner Chrissy Lampkin, who he admitted he had a crush on ever since they were young.
In a recent interview with Angie Martinez, Capo’s fiancée briefly called in during the rapper’s chat (around the 17-minute mark of the video below). After the couple hung up, Jones opened up about their 20-year partnership.
“I haven’t had too many relationships in my life,” Jones told Martinez. “She’s a dope person and she’s very solid and she’s been through a lot … We come from Harlem. You know, I’ve had a crush on her since I was younger.”
He added that his fiancée was “knowledgeable” and has seen the Dipset member through some of the “worst times” of his life.
The rapper went on to explain that he was interested in Lampkin before they even met, with the reality television star becoming aware of Jones when he started recording music.

“She would see me and pick on me every now and then,” Jones said. “Like, ‘Tighten up. Do ya hair.’ Shit like that.”
Capo said the two met in Miami while he was “faded” and that the moment “felt like Diana Ross turned around” on him. He also knew “off top” that he’d have to treat Lampkin differently than any other woman he’d been with.
“No matter what, every woman needs a protector,” he said. “And I knew that I had to be that for her, for who she was. And I had to let n***as know, Do not play with me. I’m going to go above and beyond over her.”
The couple each took turns proposing to each other during their time on Love & Hip Hop, although over a decade later, they haven’t gotten married. Jones admitted that the show put “pressure” on them to marry, and last month, singer Ciara encouraged him to marry Lampkin.
