Jermaine Dupri believes he could make a Thriller-level album with Chris Brown, but wonders if it would upset Usher.
The legendary producer spoke about the possibility of making a Michael Jackson-level LP on the Joe Budden Podcast when asked about getting in the studio with CB.
“It’s dangerous at this point. I don’t go in the studio thinking about let me hold this, one or keep this,” Dupri said.
“I might fuck around and go to the studio with CB and make a Thriller,” suggested Dupri. “Usher would hate me for the rest of my life.”
The So So Def founder didn’t specify, but presumably he believes the reason Usher might hate him is that Dupri was intimately involved in the creation of Usher’s Thriller-level album, 2004’s 14-times-Platinum smash Confessions.
Even with that in mind, Dupri reiterated his interest to collab with Brown again.

“I would love to work with Chris Brown. I have worked with Chris Brown before,” said Dupri. “You ain’t gotta tell me what’s gonna happen. I know what’s gonna happen.”
The topic of whether Brown or Usher is the superior musician, dancer, and/or overall entertainer has been a hot one recently. In April, fellow R&B legend Bobby Brown gave his thoughts on which member of the pair was closer to Michael Jackson.
“I would go with Chris Brown,” the singer said. “Chris Brown is a dancer, singer, and great entertainer. He goes out there and he does the ultimate stuff on stage.”
“Usher is also a great entertainer, but I’ve gotta go with Chris for being as close to Michael as anybody could ever get,” added Bobby, confidently.
In 2023 Brown and Usher allegedly had a physical confrontation at the former’s 34th birthday party. However, that didn’t stop them from performing at the Lovers & Friends music festival less than 24 hours later.
