Inear Display has made its creative audio tools now available via pay-what-you-want (meaning they can be yours for free).
Inear Display has moved all of its products into the pay-what-you-want category.
The developer has suggested a fair price for each of the eleven available products, to support future development, but any value of $0 or above will be accepted.
The following plugins are available in AU and VST3 formats for macOS (10.13 upwards) and Windows (10 upwards):
- Ephemere – glitchy FM drum synth
- Amalgame – multi-fx plugin
- Litote – granulator effect
- Lancinantes – drone synth
- Gorgon – aggressive distortion plugin
- Interstice – dual band delay plugin
- Incipit – triple pitch-shifting delay plugin
- Cruelle – compact distortion plugin
- Antagone – glitchy dual delay plugin
- Bref – generative FM percussion synth
- Regressif – digital chaos unit
There are a few standouts in this collection, and I would start with the Ephemere drum synth.
Ephemere has been around for about a decade, give or take a little, but underwent a significant refresh a few years ago.
Ephemere has twelve tracks, each with an FM oscillator, an amp/pitch envelope, a multi-mode filter, and an output module.
This drum synth steps away from the classic drum synth sound toward something more experimental, and one of the best ways to lean into that is by utilizing the excellent parameter randomization features.
Another standout is Amalgame, a multi-fx tool for experimental sound design.
Amalgame features 23 built-in effects, ranging from basic EQs and filters to more transformative, experimental effects.

You can drag and drop effects directly onto any of the six available slots, each with XY pads. To make things more interesting, you can sequence the X and Y parameters of each pad to create extremely precise and complex modulation.
You can also randomize the FX, sequences, and parameters for any or all slots.
Another very interesting addition is Lancinantes. I know a drone synth doesn’t immediately seem exciting to everyone, but if you love evolving soundscapes made easy, this one’s for you.

Lancinantes features three-layered, additive oscillators that can conform to musical scales to create classic harmony. The synth also features a multi-mode filter, built-in FX, and a randomizer.
It’s instant cinematic foundations for almost any scene.
There are eleven plugins to get through, and if the word experimental fits into any description of your sound, you’ll enjoy these products. Try them all, donate if you can, and let the dev know what you think.
Thank you, Inear Display.
