IK Multimedia has slashed the price of Space Delay, its lush tape echo emulation, to just $10 at AudioDeluxe (regular price $99.99). The offer is valid until September 30th, and it’s an absolute steal if you’re into vintage echo effects.
Space Delay is IK Multimedia’s detailed recreation of the iconic Roland RE-201 Space Echo, a legendary tape delay unit released in the mid-1970s.
The RE-201 earned a permanent place in music history thanks to its organic delay and spring reverb. We’ve all heard it in records by artists like Bob Marley, Pink Floyd (which is still my favorite band ever), and Portishead.
IK’s version brings that sound into the modern DAW with surgical precision, but at the same time adds some very welcome modern features.
The core sound is spot-on. I’m a massive fan of vintage echoes and used my Echocord in dozens of sampling and sound design projects. Now, my trusty (although rusty) old Echocord isn’t exactly on the same level as the Space Echo, but I have a lot of experience with the sound of these vintage units, and Space Delay nails it.
Whether you’re after smooth dub echoes or saturated, glitchy feedback loops, Space Delay will deliver that authentic tape vibe. It handles subtle slapbacks just as well as wild, self-oscillating textures, and it adds spring reverb with its own set of stereo controls for more spatial depth.
The emulation feels very authentic, especially when you push the input and start adding noise and tape wear.
But as I said, you also get some features that aren’t available in the original. Unlike the hardware, Space Delay includes high-pass and low-pass input filters, a ducking feature to help delays sit behind dry audio, and stereo panning for each playback head.
You can also sync the delays to your DAW’s tempo, making rhythmic delay effects easier to dial in. There’s even a control to age the tape and introduce lo-fi artifacts, which is perfect for gritty, lo-fi, or experimental mixes.

I found the ducking feature especially useful for vocals, where the delay adds richness to the performance without blurring it. Being able to pan the delay taps across the stereo field is another cool modern touch.
Even if you already own a few tape delay plugins, Space Delay definitely brings something unique. There’s a rawness to it, and it’s among my favorite virtual tape delays..
Space Delay runs in IK Multimedia’s T-RackS platform and is available as a 64-bit VST3, AU, and AAX plugin for Windows and macOS. You’ll need a free IK account and T-RackS to authorize and run it, but once you’re in, it integrates seamlessly with your workflow.
Grab it for $10 from AudioDeluxe before September 30th. You can choose between a free copy of Sonible pure:deess or W.A. Production Heat 2 at checkout.
