Plugin Boutique is hosting an ongoing sale on Fuse Audio Labs plugins this September, which is definitely worth exploring if you need a compressor, character, or time-based plugin to enhance your mixes.
Most people already know Fuse Audio Labs and its DSP mastermind, Reimund Dratwa, as a reliable developer that delivers quality plugins.
Dratwa also codes for NEOLD, Brainworx/Plugin Alliance, and has a background from Black Rooster Audio. In other words, the man knows what he’s doing.
Fuse Audio Labs specializes in emulating the characteristics of vintage gear. The sale at Plugin Boutique features 10 different plugins, covering a wide variety of use cases, from preamps and delays to tape emulations and dynamic processors.
Each plugin is priced at €19.79, which means very generous discounts.
VCL-25A is a Vari-Mu leveler originally intended for radio broadcasting. That doesn’t mean it can’t come in handy in your mix. Quite the contrary!
Dial in anything from smooth mix bus leveling to gritty drum kits with this classic tube-based limiter. Control the action with the gain-compensated input knob in tandem with the threshold control.
Reduce unwanted noise with the “noise floor” function and blend in some dry signal with the mix control for parallel processing. Easy, yet effective!
Here is a highlight of three of the plugins you can get at the reduced price.
VPRE-31A is based on a vintage germanium preamp for that sweet low-end projection.

The controls are straightforward: Dial in the gain-compensated drive to get the subtle enhancement or grit you’re looking for. The plugin has two impedance modes, which basically vary the frequency response.
If it still sounds too stale, why not dial in some dusty noise to craft an additional vibe? Sometimes all you need is a little bit of additional patina, after all.
TCS-68 is a tape cassette emulation based on a famous 90s multitrack recorder. The developer describes it as a “high-grade lo-fi sound”. Perfect if you feel like your sound needs a little crunch and spice.

The unit has a trim control, an EQ with low and high shelves, and an adjustable mid band from 250Hz to 5kHz, as well as a pan pot!
You can engage an emulated preamp, tape compression, hiss, and a cross-talk feature to give your track even more organic character. TCS-68 thus has a lot of features that can help you place elements in your mix and bring forth both contrast and vibe.
Well worth checking out for the more adventurous of you.
