Want your songs on Spotify and Apple Music? You need a distributor—a tool that sends your music to big streaming services. Some let you release for free, others offer extras like promotion or analytics. Here’s how to pick the right one for you.

    Step 1: Pick a Distributor

You can’t upload directly to Spotify or Apple Music. Use services like a digital post office—they deliver your music for you.

    Top distributors today include:

    • DistroKid – fast unlimited uploads, keep 100% royalties.

    • TuneCore – good for reach and promotional tools.

    • CD Baby – trusted, physical and digital options.

    • Amuse – free tier available and AI tools.

    • LANDR – built-in mastering plus distribution.

    • Ditto Music – affordable unlimited releases globally.

    • Symphonic Distribution – label-level tools and analytics.

    • RouteNote – offers both free and paid plans.

    • GYROstream – includes local support, promo, and radio help.

*There are many more distributors. This is not a complete list. If you want to do your own research you’ll find lots of alternatives. I personally use Amadea Music to distribute my music – Dystopian Soundscapes, and it’s been great.

    Step 2: Ready Your Release

    1. Finalize your audio in WAV format (16‑bit, 44.1 kHz).

    2. Design artwork—3000×3000 px.

    3. Gather metadata: song title, artist name, and release date.

    Step 3: Upload & Schedule

    • Upload your audio, artwork, and metadata.

    • Choose a release date (at least 2–4 weeks ahead).

    • Send your music to Spotify, Apple Music, and others via your distributor.

    Step 4: Promote & Grow

    • Claim your artist profiles (Spotify for Artists, Apple Music for Artists).

    • Share snippets, pre-save links, and visuals.

    • Use distributor tools (like Amuse’s insights or CD Baby’s promos).

    • Reach out to playlists and fans directly.

🧭 How to Choose the Right Distributor for You

If you’re just starting out and want to test the waters with zero cost, a free plan like Amuse or RouteNote is perfect. For artists who are already uploading tracks regularly and want full control and speed, a subscription-based option like DistroKid is a great fit. If you’re more focused on high-quality mastering, brand presentation, and pro-level releases, LANDR or Symphonic might be your lane. And if you’re a singer-songwriter looking for simple, guided tools, CD Baby’s done-for-you approach is rock solid. Producers and beatmakers who drop lots of content might prefer the unlimited upload freedom of Ditto. Think about where you are in your journey, and pick the one that fits your workflow, goals, and vibe—not just the cheapest price tag.

    Final Word

Your music isn’t finished until it’s out there in the world. Find a distributor, prepare your files, upload with care, and plan your promotion. Treat your release like a launch—not just a post.

Want a release checklist, graphic guide, or social media templates? Just say the word—I’ve got your ninja tools ready.
