HoRNet’s TrackUtility has been around for over a decade, with various updates since its release.
The plugin that HoRNet calls the “Swiss army knife audio utility” used to retail for €9.90 but is now free.
TrackUtility comes in AU, VST2, VST3, RTAS, and AAX formats for macOS (10.7 and later) and Windows.
The aforementioned plugins were only free for 48 hours, so TrackUtility is a particularly nice treat for anyone who missed out on the others.
TrackUtility is a multifunctional utility tool that streamlines your workflow by letting you handle various tasks from a single plugin.
To kick things off, TrackUtility offers basic essentials, such as track muting and gain adjustment (+/- 60dB).
You’ve also got accurate visual feedback with Peak and RMS output metering.
In addition, you can use TrackUtility to shape the stereo image of your track. The plugin features Pan and Stereo Width controls, whether you need to give direction to a specific element or create more space and depth throughout.
It goes a bit further, allowing you to work on both channels, or left or right individually, with separate phase reversal for each.
With the features above, TrackUtility removes the need for multiple plugins in certain scenarios.
Of course, there are times when we want to use very specific tools for different tasks, but when time management is a priority, plugins like TrackUtility can be a great help.
One feature that showcases the timesaving potential is the quick, easy DC offset removal function. It’s quick in the moment, but things like this also save you time down the line because a cleaner track means fewer noise-related problems later.
You can even use TrackUtility as a quick mastering tool on the master bus due to the built-in limiter in the output section.
