HoRNet Plugins has made FilterSolo, a multi-mode filter plugin with analog-style saturation and extensive modulation features, available for FREE for the next 48 hours with the coupon code FILTERFREE26.
FilterSolo combines multi-mode filtering with modulation, a bit of saturation, and simple hands-on controls.
It features four filter types (low pass, high pass, band pass, and band stop) with 12dB or 24dB slopes. That’s all standard multimode filter stuff that you’ll find in any DAW, but there’s more to FilterSolo. It shines when you start modulating.
Both cutoff and resonance can be modulated independently using two envelope followers and two LFOs. Each envelope follower has adjustable attack and release times (10ms to 1s), so you can dial in snappy rhythmic filtering or slower filter movements that follow your audio input.
The LFOs come with four waveforms and tempo sync, so you’re getting a wide range of rhythmic modulation options. It’s great for injecting life into static sounds or automating filter movement across a mix to create buildups and transitions.
The analog emulation section adds a subtle but noticeable dose of character and grit. When pushing hot signals through FilterSolo with the analog mode enabled, the plugin delivers saturation that mimics solid-state distortion.
There’s also optional analog hiss if you want even more of that hardware vibe, or you can turn it off for a cleaner sound. It’s a nice touch, but I prefer keeping the noise off.
The UI is intentionally minimal, which I’m always a big fan of. There’s no separate modulation matrix or hidden menus. Everything is upfront on the main panel, with a large LCD-style panel showing filter movement and modulation.
That simplicity makes me come back to FilterSolo every now and then, even though it isn’t a groundbreaking filter. I love using it during quick sound design sessions where speed is key.
If you’re into aggressive filter sweeps or animated modulations that sync to your track, FilterSolo is definitely worth grabbing while free. It’s not my go-to for analog filter sounds, but I keep it installed on my machine for quick filter modulation tasks.
FilterSolo is available in VST3, AU, and AAX plugin formats for macOS (10.13 or later, including native Apple Silicon support) and Windows (64-bit). VST2 is no longer supported.
