HISS and a ROAR has announced the release of two new UFX series sound libraries.
Polystyrene Breaks ($6 USD) brings the sounds of distinct and unique breaks and snaps, with sharp attack.
Polystyrene is such a light but rigid form of material, it provides a unique ‘break’ every time you snap a bit in half. I collected up all the space bits I could find, ranging in size up to a large icebox size, and then enjoyed myself breaking them into pieces, one by one, until the bits were too small to break anymore!
Also available is Printer Inkjet ($10 USD), a collection of 20 recordings of an inkjet printer performing rhythms, captured to 8 tracks including contact mics and EMF.
First 10 full pages of text, then single lines, then spaced so the line feed would change the rhythm.. Then I got some ASCII art of a cat and printed copies of it.
The inkjet head movement, the line feeds and the page feeds all contribute to the Inkjet Printers machine rhythms…
Both sample libraries are on sale at a 50% discount until September 1st, 2025.
