Gooey Audio has released The Snake, a versatile modulation and filtering plugin, and is offering their brand-new Shimmer plugin for free until July 25th.
Let’s start with Shimmer, the freebie.
Gooey Audio Shimmer
Shimmer is a compact dimension expander designed to quickly add space and depth to your sound. At its core, it’s built for simplicity, with three intuitive controls: a shimmer knob, a mix control, and a sparkle button.
The plugin is straightforward to use—just dial in the amount of space you want, blend it to taste, and optionally press the button to add some high-end shimmer.
Shimmer won’t reinvent your mix, but for quick sound design tweaks, it’s convenient to have around. I always prefer the minimalist approach with plugins, and this one is definitely going into my sound design toolkit.
What I like about Shimmer is that it doesn’t try to do too much. It’s lightweight, visually clean, and it adds an ambient glow without requiring any deep tweaking. It can quickly transform a dull sound into something richer and engaging with just a few mouse clicks.

It’s perfect for enhancing a synth pad, vocals, or a dry guitar take; it’s an easy way to give sounds a touch of polish without reaching for a full-on reverb or delay plugin.
Shimmer is priced at $6.99, but you can get it for free until July 25th. Simply complete the checkout on the product page to get your free copy.
Gooey Audio The Snake
Now to The Snake. This one’s a far more elaborate effect, aimed at creative modulation and deep filtering.
The Snake combines a large selection of filter types—like state variable, ladder, formant, and brickwall filters—with a broad range of phasers and flangers. In total, there are over 70 modulation modes to explore.
Where The Snake really shines is in its modulation routing. You can use “Gooey Graphs” to modulate almost any parameter and link multiple controls together for rhythmic, evolving effects.

It also includes stereo-widening filters, macro controls, panning, volume, mix, and a solid library of presets to get you started. From subtle filtering to wild formant shifts and time-synced modulation, there’s a lot of sound-shaping power here.
If you’re into building evolving textures or designing rhythmic effects, The Snake is well worth checking out—especially while it’s 20% off during July.
Both plugins are available in VST3, AU, and AAX formats for Windows 8+ and macOS 10.13+, with full Apple Silicon support. You can grab Shimmer for free and try out The Snake with the discount at Gooey Audio’s website.
