Fundamental Bass from W.A. Production is an easy-to-use plugin that tackles the often tricky task of balancing your bass in a mix and is now available for free for a limited time.
The plugin comes in AU, VST, VST3, and AAX formats for macOS and Windows.
There are a million things that can go wrong when trying to balance the bass while maximizing its impact, and even the best bass line can go to waste in a poor mix.
Fundamental Bass by W.A. Production tackles this potential pitfall by using two independent modules for processing your bass.
It features a Low Module and a High Module with an adjustable frequency split.
Using two independent modules means you can compress the low-end, make sure it’s tight, and sitting right, without sacrificing any flair or excitement from the mids and top-end.
Now, back to the bass.
Each module has dedicated Balance controls that add gentle compression. Where the modules differ is on the next dial: the Low Module has a Flatten control, and the High Module has a Drive control.
The Low Module’s Flatten control is a more aggressive compression that can tame very active basslines without losing the groove.
The High Module’s Drive control adds tube-style saturation, both subtle and aggressive distortion.
You can see how the split-frequency approach to processing could be a useful way to position the core bass groove perfectly, while enhancing the more characterful elements rather than suppressing them as a side-effect of alternative methods.
The plugin also features low- and high-pass filters to help leave space for other elements around your bass.
Another interesting feature is the ability to split the stereo imaging. For example, you can set the Low Module to mono, keeping that core bass right down the middle for broader playback performance and maximum impact, while setting the High Module to stereo to avoid losing character or energy.
Fundamental Bass comes with a range of factory presets and usually costs $39.90. Try it out while it’s free!
Thanks to Rekkerd and W.A. Production for the offer!
