Faith Evans is alleged to have “continued to wrongfully withhold” proceeds from a multimillion-dollar Notorious B.I.G. catalog deal, per a new lawsuit.
In March of this year, Primary Wave, an independent music publisher, home to Def Leppard and the late Prince, among others, announced the closing of a deal under which it would take a 50-percent interest in Biggie’s estate. At the time, per the Wall Street Journal, the agreement saw the estate valued at a reported $200 million.
Biggie’s mother, Voletta Wallace, died one month prior to the deal’s public confirmation. Among those in attendance for Voletta’s funeral were Faith, Mase, Lil’ Kim, and more.
Now, as reported by Billboard, Wayne Barrow, described in court docs as the trustee of the Voletta Wallace Revocable Trust, has accused Evans of “improperly” and “wrongfully” withholding sale proceeds as part of an alleged “takeover.” The Wallace trust, as detailed in docs obtained and shared by Bloomberg, “is a 50-percent member of” the Notorious B.I.G. LLC.
Barrow’s Delaware-field complaint says Wallace “managed and grew” the LLC after her son’s death, ultimately negotiating a deal with “a prominent independent music publisher,” presumably the one mentioned above. The other half of the LLC, of course, is owned by Evans.

“Evans has distributed sale proceeds to Ty’anna, CJ, and presumably to herself,” reads Barrow’s complaint. “She, however, has wrongfully withheld the Trust’s [redacted] share of the proceeds, in the amount of [redacted]. She has also refused to provide Mr. Barrow with a copy of the Asset Purchase Agreement and instructed the LLC’s counsel and the buyer not to do so either.”
Citing “misconduct,” Barrow is calling for the removal of Evans, who was married to Biggie at the time of his fatal 1997 shooting, from the role of LLC manager.
