Euphoria fans have been itching for more details on the show’s upcoming third season, which is currently in production. But showrunner Sam Levinson has teased some details about a new character.
Back in February, it was reported that Spanish singer Rosalía had joined the cast of Euphoria for Season 3. Details of her character are under wraps, but in a profile on the musician for Elle published on Thursday, Aug. 14, Levinson shared how impressed he was when he saw her act. In fact, he nearly gave her free rein.
“I let her play with the words, the emotions, in English and Spanish,” Levinson said. “I never want to tell her what to do first, because her natural instincts are so fascinating, charismatic, and funny. Every scene we shoot, I’m behind the camera smiling.”
Before being cast in the show, Rosalía had long been a fan. In 2020, she took to X (formerly Twitter) to manifest appearing on the show. Later that year, she contributed to the show’s soundtrack in the form of a Billie Eilish collaboration for a one-off episode centered around Zendaya’s Rue.

During her time on set, Rosalía has said she’s developed a good rapport with the cast, particularly with Zendaya and Alexa Demie, the latter of whom plays Maddie. “I have good friends there. It feels really nice to be able to find each other,” Rosalía told Elle.
Last year, Euphoria actress Hunter Schafer revealed in an interview with GQ that she and Rosalía had dated for five months back in 2019. The relationship ended amicably, and Schafer said Rosalía is “family, no matter what.”
Rosalía has echoed the sentiment, telling Elle she has enjoyed seeing Schafer on-set, however, she is not feeling any pressure to label her own sexuality. “I think of freedom. That’s what guides me.”
Euphoria’s third season is expected to premiere on HBO in 2026, four years after the show’s second season ended.
