Erykah Badu has set Friday, August 29, as the release date for Abi & Alan, her new collaborative album with The Alchemist.
According to Consequence of Sound, before it lands on streaming, the pair are previewing the whole project live on the Abi & Alan Luv Is Tour.
Those shows feature Badu performing with The Cannabinoids—RC Williams, A1, Rob Free, S1, and Jah Born—using her signature digital-analog fusion.
The first song from the album, “Next to You,” arrived last month.
Abi & Alan is Erykah Badu’s first album in 15 years, following 2010’s New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh).
After wrapping the August run with The Alchemist, Badu will return in the fall for a separate slate of Mama’s Gun 25th-anniversary dates under the banner Mama’s Gun ’25: The Return of Automatic Slim Tour.
