Eminem was in the house for a special Stans screening in New York Wednesday night, using the opportunity to effusively thank fans for their decades of support.
As seen in the ePro-shared video below, Em surprised fans at The Rooftop at Pier 17 by taking the stage for a speech. Naturally, his attempts at gathering his thoughts on how best to show his gratitude were repeatedly interrupted by shouts of adoration from fans, with Em at one point saying “I love you too, goddammit” before getting his speech back on track.
“When I was I writing this song [2000’s “Stan”], I didn’t understand the impact my music was having on people at the time,” Em told the crowd. “It was really surreal to me and it’s still surreal to me to this day to look out here and see all you and the fact that my music has inspired you. This film was a thank-you to all of you. This is my thank-you for all of you for sticking by me this whole fucking time through all my shit, through all my bullshit, all my fucking mediocre shit , the good shit, the bad shit. All of it. This film is dedicated to y’all.”
Elsewhere, as seen in the clip below, Em was addressing a smaller group when someone jokingly shouted out “Yo, it’s the guy from Fortnite,” a nod to Em’s 2023 collaboration with the Epic Games title. The Death of Slim Shady artist was seemingly amused by the remark, at least to a small degree.

Stans begins a short theatrical run Thursday, Aug. 7, before hitting Paramount+ later this year. To celebrate the documentary’s arrival, original “Stan” music video star Devon Sawa was among those on hand for a special Complex pop-up.
“It’s so good to be here after 25 years,” the Final Destination and Heart Eyes actor said of the evening, which also saw his son getting some face-to-face time with Em himself.
