Dreamtonics has unveiled Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro, the next-generation update of its AI-powered vocal synthesis software for Windows and macOS. The software and all version 2 voice banks are available for pre-order now and will officially launch on March 21, 2025.
Synthesizer V Studio has already earned a reputation as one of the most advanced vocal synthesis platforms, and this new release pushes the envelope further. With a complete engine overhaul and reworked voice banks, version 2 aims to deliver even more human-like vocal performances at blazing speeds.
With the new Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro ($99), rendering is up to 300% faster than before, even without GPU acceleration. This means you can work offline on complex vocal arrangements without slowing down your workflow.
One of my favorite new features is the Phoneme Timing Panel, which lets you reshape phoneme intensity and timing within individual notes. There’s also the new Expression Pad, plus an AI Retakes Panel integrated into the Notes section, allowing for quick retakes and phoneme timing adjustments. For pitch shaping, Smart Pitch Controls give you precise and intuitive control.
Another cool feature is the new Mouth Opening parameter, which lets you exaggerate or soften vowel pronunciation for added expressiveness. It’s useful for adding subtle nuances that make the vocal sound more natural.
Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro now also supports Korean as a cross-lingual synthesis language, joining Japanese, English, and Chinese. All upgraded voices have been re-trained with new AI models, and the Vocal Modes for each have been reworked to better match different singing styles and genres.
Dreamtonics is clearly aiming for realism. Founder Kanru Hua mentioned that vocals generated by the new version received naturalness ratings on par with real human performances in testing.
In my experience, you need to put in some extra work to make the vocal sound as close to the human voice as possible, but the results can really sound incredible.
I’ve always found tools like Synthesizer V useful for sketching vocal ideas. There was an old freeware vocal synthesizer plugin called AquesTone that I used as a vocal sketchpad in the early 2010s.
But, with Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro, it’s easier than ever to prototype realistic vocal arrangements before bringing in real singers—or, I guess, skipping that step entirely.
Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro runs on Windows and macOS and supports standalone use as well as VST, AU, and AAX plugin formats.
The software itself costs $99, but you can get the bundle with any Version 2 voice for $149.
