Daybreak Audio has announced the release two plugins which use aggressive multiband compression to sculpt uniquely harsh and distorted tones, perfect for rage, electronic, and industrial music.
At its core, Omega Comp is a multiband compressor and distortion unit that applies upwards and downwards compression. Where Omega Comp stands out from similar plugins is how it can push traditional compression past its breaking point. At its highest settings, it can turn any sound into an unrelenting wall of distortion, or at lower settings, simply act as an intuitive multiband compressor.
Despite processing over 4 frequency bands, Omega Comp’s compressor is controlled by just 5 knobs, making multiband compression intuitive and accessible to anyone.
In addition to its compressor, Omega Comp includes a multiband distortion section with 13 custom-built distortion algorithms and seven unique splitting filters, taking it from a powerful multiband compressor to an all-purpose distortion powerhouse.
“I built Omega Comp to fill a niche in my own set of tools I hadn’t been able to fill for years,” said Daybreak Audio founder Jordan Rudolph. “As a musician myself, I use Omega Comp on nearly every track I make, I’m addicted to it. I can’t wait to see what other musicians will create with it.”
Omega Comp is currently available to purchase at a special introductory price of $57 USD for a limited time (regular $119 USD). The simplified Omega Knob version is currently free for all users. Both plugins come in VST3 and AU format for Windows and Mac.
