Dame Dash has reportedly lost his copyrights and companies to satisfy more than $800,000 worth of debt.
AllHipHop reports that Dame has been forced to give up his businesses and copyrights to satisfy the $823,284 in damages that was awarded to filmmaker Josh Webber in 2022. Webber had won the money from the defamation and copyright infringement lawsuit that he’d filed against Dame in 2019.
According to U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert W. Lehrburger, Dash and his umbrella company, Poppington LLC, has to hand over full ownership of Dash Films Inc., Bluroc LLC, and Blakroc LLC. Additionally, he has to give up his stake in companies such as Ocean East Improvements LLC, 1996 Songs LLC, and Lebanon Improvements LLC.
The copyrights to Dame’s films are up for grabs too — including Welcome to Blackroc, Honor Up, We Went to…China, and Too Honorable.
There’s some good news — but it’s pretty small. Dash has until June 16 to file objections. If he doesn’t, his assets will be seized and auctioned by the U.S. Marshal within 180 days, with the proceeds from the auction going to satisfy Dame’s judgment.
Last year, Dame found himself in an eerily similar situation when his 33.3% stake in Roc-A-Fella Records had to be auctioned off. The State of New York ended up purchasing it for $1 million.
In May, 50 Cent hopped on Instagram to give Dame a pep talk in the midst of his deep financial troubles.
Fif posted a picture of an article that detailed Dame being ordered to sell companies to satisfy his debt, writing, “A little set back is just a lesson, you get a little arrogant you lose blessings, but when you know how to Win you win. So quit fucking around and Win again. Chin Up!”
