Cam’ron has explained why Drake has never officially collaborated on music with The Diplomats.
On a recent episode of his show Talk With Flee, Cam’ron, a prominent member of Dipset, recently provided insight into this mystery, revealing a surprisingly simple reason: he never actually asked Drake for a feature.
“I have no idea,” said Cam when asked why the collaboration never came to fruition. “I never really asked Drake to do a song, to be honest with you. That’s a great question. You have to ask everyone in Dipset.”
He clarified that his relationship with Drake is amicable, describing them as “cool, just as friends and that there was never an opportunity where Cam wanted to ask Drake for a feature. Cam said Drake has consistently shown love to the legendary rap group and even sampled Dipset’s music, which Cam’ron confirmed was cleared without any issues.
“The opportunity never really presented itself for me, personally,” said Cam. “It’s not like I asked him to do a song and he didn’t do a song. I just never asked him to do a song.”
Cam’ron noted that he could only speak from his own experience, suggesting other Dipset members might have different circumstances regarding potential collaborations with Drake.
Over the years, Jim Jones has spoken highly of Drake, from calling him the fifth member of the group to claiming the 6 God has done more for the culture than most people. He even revealed he turned down signing Drake as he didn’t know what he was going to do with an actor “in a wheelchair.”
