BOOM Library has introduced the latest entry in its acclaimed Magic series. Inspired by the reactive world of magical chemistry, the new sound effects library was recorded in a real, makeshift laboratory and is designed to bring character-rich, short-format magic to professional sound designers in games, film, audio drama, and beyond.
Magic – Alchemy complements BOOM’s existing titles Arcane Forces and Wisp, but with a focus on tighter, faster, and more naturally recorded magical elements. Rather than cinematic blasts or ethereal swirls, this new library captures the grounded sonic chaos of bubbling potions, fizzing tinctures, sizzling spell reactions, and carefully layered enchantments.
“I wanted each sound to have personality — not just another fire burst or whoosh,” said Fabio Coressel, the project lead behind MAGIC – ALCHEMY. “So we built a lab right in the studio. I spent days in goggles, experimenting with alcohol burns, gas tubes, chimes, and chemical reactions. The result is something that feels alive, tactile, and truly magical.”
The library includes both a Construction Kit of raw, cleanly recorded elements and a set of Designed sounds for instant integration. All Designed assets are categorized into Holy, Cursed, or Neutral, helping audio professionals quickly match the emotional tone of their scenes or interactive events.
