Auburn Sounds is a developer we’ve covered multiple times at BPB, with plugins like Graillon 3 (a vocal pitch correction tool), Inner Pitch (a pitch shifter), and Lens (a spectral multiband compressor/expander). Now, they have released Selene, a free algorithmic reverb plugin for macOS, Windows, and Linux.
Selene, a versatile algorithmic reverb plugin, is the latest offering from Auburn Sounds and is available in both free and paid versions.
The paid version is currently on sale for $18.94 (usually $36.67) at the time of writing (October 28, 2025).

Both versions are available in AU, VST, AAX, and LV2 formats for macOS, Windows, and Linux.
I think most will be pleasantly surprised to find that the free version is pretty feature-packed.
The first feature that jumps out is the Damp section, an eight-band EQ that applies to the reverb feedback loop. The values you set here (positive or negative damp) are affected by the Decay and Size parameters, but some very handy visual feedback (red warning) helps you avoid infinite feedback.
Next up, you have a post EQ section (high-shelf and low-shelf) that affects the reverb as it exits the feedback loop, followed by a Mix section featuring Dry, Early, Reverb, and Out.
You’ll find some of the more interesting parameters along the bottom of the GUI, starting with the Drive knob. The Drive knob distorts the reverb input, altering the texture and character without being overwhelming; I like it.
You can further shape the reverb with the Diffuse knob, adjusting the echo density to create wide-open spaces or denser, plate-like reverbs.
Additional controls include Mod frequency/amount, Pre-Delay, and Width. But the controls that surprised me most are Vintage and the internal Gate and Duck; I thought Auburn Sounds might have reserved these for the paid version.
The Vintage parameter simulates classic reverb effects and provides another way to create a reverb with a distinct character.
I’ve spent a very short time with both versions of Selene and, with some very dry solo piano recordings, found the plugin to be a nice way to craft a reverb that fits the mood of the piece, whether dark or light. I’m looking forward to spending more time with it.
