Atlas DSP is giving away its DI KEN plugin for free for a limited time. It normally costs 29.99 euros. To get it for free, you can sign up with your email and first name on the Atlas DSP website.
DI KEN is a stompbox-style effect that combines overdrive, pitch shifting, and a noise gate into a single plugin. We have a gazillion free overdrives to choose from, but this one also lets you change the pitch, which is a pretty cool add-on for sound design.
The plugin uses a symmetrical clipping overdrive circuit with Gain, Tone, and Level controls. The Gain stage goes from subtle saturation to aggressive drive, the Tone control shapes the midrange, and the Level parameter can push the output hard enough to drive an amp sim into natural breakup.
But as I already mentioned, it’s not just an overdrive pedal.
There’s an integrated pitch shifter for transposition, detuning, or sub-octave generation, and a noise gate calibrated for the transient response of guitars and basses. Dedicated IN and OUT sliders handle gain staging on both ends of the signal chain.
I don’t work with guitars too much, but I like using stompbox-style plugins on synths. It’s like having a little pedalboard for your synth tracks, and I tend to collect more of these because they’re usually simple and fun to experiment with.
DI KEN is a bit more complex than your typical guitar pedal since it packs overdrive, pitch shifting, and gating into one unit, but it’s still quick to dial in. If you work with guitars, the noise gate alone makes it a handy front-end tool, and for synth processing, the combination of drive and pitch shifting is worth trying out.
Visit the product page linked below and enter your name and email address at the top to get it for free. It’s a limited-time offer, but I don’t know when it ends.
DI KEN is available in AU, VST3, and AAX formats (64-bit) for macOS (10.11 or higher) and Windows (7 or higher).
