Where would the cherry industry be without Usher, who’s made a habit of mid-performance cherry feedings that often end up being written about on this very website?
The latest example of the Coming Home artist’s fruit-focused shenanigans came during a 2025 Met Gala performance, complete with an appearance by Sabrina Carpenter that has since earned a reaction from her father.
When commemorating her third Met Gala on social media, Carpenter, whose 2025 tour plans include upcoming stops at Madison Square Garden in New York and Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, shared an assortment of behind-the-scenes shots from before, after, and during this year’s event.
In one photo, Carpenter is seen posing with Jenna Ortega and Chappell Roan. In another, she’s seen being fed a cherry by Usher.
In the final slide, Carpenter included a screenshot of an alleged text from her father. In it, he shares an X link about the cherry moment, commenting, simply, “? Weird.”

Among those quick to address the text on Wednesday was Dunkin, the coffee brand, which commented “Dad, it’s art!” on Carpenter’s Insta post. Carpenter and Dunkin partnered on a campaign featuring “Espresso” last year.
Carpenter previously thanked Pharrell and the Louis Vuitton team for her “amazing look” at the 2025 Met Gala, praising it as being “tailored to perfection.”
She joined Lisa, Future, Pusha T, Jeremy Allen White, and other brand ambassadors and friends of the house for a group photo on Monday. The singer’s look was complemented by diamond earrings, diamond necklace, and a watch from Chopard.
This week, the two-time Grammy winner was announced as a headliner for the 2025 edition of Austin City Limits Music Festival. Hozier, Doja Cat, Luke Combs, The Strokes, John Summit, and Doechii are also headlining. For the full lineup, featuring Maggie Antone and MJ Lenderman, see below.
