Charlamagne Tha God offered his take on the artist formerly known as Kanye West’s claim that he gave his cousin “head” when they were young.

“What am I supposed to do with this information?” The Breakfast Club host said when the subject came up on a recent episode of the Power 105.1 FM show. “If Kanye is fighting his sexuality, I hope he figures it out. Either go get help, or leave us alone. Because I don’t know what we’re supposed to do with this type of information just on a random Monday.”

Jess Hilarious described what happened to Ye as “sexual assault,” but Charlamagne said he wasn’t so sure if the cousin was a victim because the details about the situation are unclear. “I guess… I don’t know,” he said. “Once again, I don’t know what I’m supposed to do with this information! … We say that he needs help, man, but the reality is it feels like everything Kanye West does is a publicity stunt.”

Charlamagne added that Ye, despite antagonizing people by declaring himself a Nazi and insulting so many of his previous collaborators, has also been trying to paint himself as a victim recently. Charlamagne also expressed confusion over Ye saying his mother had magazines featuring gay men, despite recently claiming that his mother was a lesbian.

One caller said that she thought Ye’s admission would inspire others to open up about their own experiences with childhood sexual trauma and abuse, but Charlamagne disagreed. “No they not,” he said. “People are not going to start coming out saying they sucked their cousin penis.” The caller then said that Charlamagne “probably never experienced that,” prompting to the host to open up about his own trauma.

“Listen, I was getting molested when I was eight,” Charlamagne said. “I was getting molested when I was eight by a 20-year-old woman.” She countered by saying that he “dealt with it differently” and not everyone is “as strong” as he is. “I’m with you, this is a topic that we should be discussing,” he continued. “I just can’t take it serious, ‘cause it’s coming from Kanye. Every week it’s something with Kanye. Everything seems like a publicity stunt. … I don’t take nothing you say serious.”

Another caller called Ye a “pedophile” and “a predator,” and said Ye “forced” himself on his cousin. “We don’t know if it was forced, brother,” said Charlamagne. “Kanye should get help, but until he does everything I see him do just seems like a publicity stunt. Jess just brought up the interview with Akademiks, I had forgot about that. Think about how he does so much crazy stuff, I literally forgot he was standing there in a black KKK outfit talking to Akademiks. The last two things I remember is him saying his mother was gay last week—which, what am I supposed to do with this information—and then this week it’s, ‘I sucked my cousin’s penis till I was 14.”

At the end of the discussion, DJ Envy said that would not play Ye’s “Through the Wire” on the show. “Worst time in his life, couldn’t suck no dick,” said Charlamagne.

Others have also shared their thoughts on Ye’s admission, including Boosie Badazz, who said that he feels “bad” for him and thinks his online rants “make sense now.” ASAP Ferg, meanwhile, offered love to Ye. “Now you can be whole,” Ferg wrote. “When people start to act out you never know the root of the issue!”
