The artist formerly known as Kanye West is showing appreciation for Akademiks after a news and updates-focused X account shared a post about his alleged child support situation. For some time now, Ye has been publicly critical of the current alleged state of his custody agreement with ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
“I appreciate this so much,” Ye said in an update to X in response to an Akademiks TV post that read, in part, “Ye still fighting to see his children.” The Ak-associated post also pointed to an alleged child support payment of $200,000 monthly “per child,” plus “denied visitation.”
In 2022, news of Ye and Kim’s divorce settlement included word of what was said to be $200,000 a month in child support, though the “per child” claim was not reported at the time. Per TMZ, the divorce settlement also included an agreement between both parties that Ye would be paying half of their four children’s education-related expenses and security costs.
Prior to his Ak appreciation post, Ye, again on X, questioned why the streaming personality—who recently worked with Ye on a lengthy interview during which the 24-time Grammy winner wore KKK-style attire and a swastika pendant—wasn’t speaking out “the situation with my kids.” At the time, Ak was reacting to Ye confessing that he allegedly “sucked my cousin’s dick ’til I was 14.”
Elsewhere, Ye argued that he doesn’t need to “just ‘see’ my kids” but instead wants “to raise them.” He also said that he hasn’t seen Saint, his and Kim’s second-oldest child together, at all in 2025. Additionally, Ye mentioned a number of public figures by name, Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar among them, arguing that all celebrities “are a family, in a way” and “are all in the same boat.”
Later, Ye corrected a separate update from the Akademiks TV account regarding a claim of his focused on vintage issues of Playboy.
Despite Ye’s claims, TMZ reports that he can see his children whenever he wants. A source close to the situation told the outlet that Ye chooses not to see his children, whenever he wants. Per the outlet, Ye saw Chicago and Pslam a “few days ago,” and has seen Saint this year.
Saint, 9, was recently seen in a short film accompanying Ye’s work-in-progress Bully project. While a June release date for the album had previously been floated by Ye, he ended up releasing an unfinished version in March. It’s currently unclear whether future versions of the album will be made public.
