DAWJunkie has released One Knob Dynamics, a bundle of three dynamic processing plugins for macOS and Windows. The offer is available for a limited time via the developer’s website.
The One Knob Dynamics collection includes Compress One, Limiter One, and Gate One. Each plugin features a single control knob labeled “Amount,” and these are basically the most streamlined dynamics tools you can get right now.
As the name suggests, these are (quite literally!) one-knob plugins. You turn the knob to increase the effect, and that’s it.
There are no extra controls, no menu diving, and no visual meters. Whether that’s liberating or limiting depends on your workflow and how you like to mix.
I’ve said it many times before on BPB that I’m a big fan of one-knob plugins. Tools like these can speed up your workflow, especially during the early mix stages, demo work, or when tracking someone in the studio.
You probably won’t reach for them to fine-tune your master bus compression or fix a problematic vocal take, but they’re great for rough shaping and sketching ideas quickly.
Compress One delivers a basic compression effect that works well on drums, guitars, and vocals. Limiter One offers brickwall-style limiting, and Gate One is a no-fuss noise gate. All three do what they’re supposed to with minimal CPU load and zero distractions.
They’re ideal for quick dynamics adjustments when you don’t want to be tweaking thresholds, ratios, or attack/release settings. If you like mixing fast and don’t need surgical control, you’ll probably enjoy working with these.
