Function Loops has released Cinematic Cyberpunk, a previously paid ($17.90) sample pack that is now available as a free download. The developer also recently dropped another free pack called Organix: Indie Electronica, but more on that later.
As I’ve mentioned in the recent Polyend Bliss Chords article, we’ve shifted away from covering traditional WAV sample packs in recent years, partly because of the rise of Decent Sampler and free Kontakt libraries and other sample-based formats.
But lately, I’ve found myself rediscovering and, once again, fully appreciating the simplicity of WAV. They’re lightweight, easy to manage, and work in every DAW or sampler.
And now in 2025, I actually feel a bit of nostalgia when I drag a loop into the DAW without loading a virtual instrument. It’s how I first got started with making music, and it brings me back to the good old days.
Cinematic Cyberpunk is a solid reminder of that simplicity done right.
It combines electronic and cinematic sound design in a sample pack that includes 159 files in total: 105 loops and 39 one-shots, plus 15 bonus Serum presets.
It’s packed with gritty drum loops, distorted synths, punchy FX, and a few braaam and drone-style elements that can give a bit of a Blade Runner-esque vibe to your sessions.
The loops cover bass, synths, cinematic drums, drones, FX, growls, and more. One-shots include claps, kicks, snares, hats, and percs, which, all put together, are enough to build an entire track from scratch or spice up an existing one.
As usual with Function Loops, everything is royalty-free and provided in 24-bit WAV format. It’s plug-and-play and genre-agnostic enough to fit cyberpunk, synthwave, trailer music, or even industrial-style productions.
The download process is pretty straightforward. When you click the free download button, you’ll get an optional offer to grab the Vocal Inspiration Bundle for $9 (which includes an additional 880MB of vocal chops). If you’re not interested, just skip through and continue to the final download page by entering your email address.
Also worth checking out is Organix: Indie Electronica, a more recent freeware release from Function Loops. It leans into chillout and experimental territory with live instruments like guitars, viola, and keys paired with electronic textures. A great pick for downtempo, IDM, or anything needing a bit more organic flavor.
Both packs are available now in WAV format and work with any DAW or sampler.
