Bad Bunny has released a music video for new single “NUEVAYoL” — and it comes with a powerful pro-immigrant message.
Released on Independence Day (July 4), the video sees Bad Bunny give the world a glimpse at the beauty of Puerto Rican culture. At the end, a voice that sounds a lot like President Donald Trump gives a powerful message about immigration through an old-school radio.
“I made a mistake,” the voice says. “I want to apologize to the immigrants in America. I mean the United States. I know America is the whole continent. I want to say that this country is nothing without the immigrants. This country is nothing without Mexicans, Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, Colombians, Venezuelans, Cubans.”

The faux Trump speech, and the video, come at an important time as immigrants across the United States continue to be targeted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement for deportation. The targeting seems like it will only get worse since, on Thursday (July 3), Congress passed President Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” that gives ICE 10,000 more agents and 100,000 more detention beds.

In late February, the three-time Grammy winner was spotted around New York, particularly the Bronx, filming scenes for the video. In one clip, the rapper/singer is seen dancing on top of a building on the Bronx Community College campus, while another shows him shivering in the snow and entering a limo.
“There’s a lot of history between Puerto Rico and New York. There’s a lot of culture — even the flag was made here,” Bad Bunny told Popcast earlier this year. “It’s the perfect song to start the project ‘cause it’s like the reunion of the the whole Latino community… Dominicans, the Puerto Ricans, the Colombians, Venezuela, Cuba, Mexico also is part the feeling that made me create this album.”
Just weeks after DTMF debuted atop the Billboard 200, Bad Bunny held an album release party at Brooklyn’s Toñita’s social club, where Democratic representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Nydia Velázquez joined him for a dance.
Bad Bunny’s had other pop-ups around NYC this year, like performing in disguise with Jimmy Fallon at a local subway station before appearing on the comedian and talk show host’s Late Show.
“NUEVAYoL” follows previous DTMF singles like “BAILE INoLVIDABLE” and “TURiSTA” along with Bad Bunny’s album-dedicated short film.
