Tyler, the Creator is doubling down on his views regarding podcasts.
When asked by The Cut about his desire to ban the digital medium, the two-time Grammy winner said, “I think we give a lot of people who aren’t smart and just want attention platforms to be loud and incorrect, and other stupid people follow them.
“Where are the people with skills? We need electricians, we need more drummers, painters, teachers. Everybody with a mic is crazy. I just think that shit is gross.”
Tyler then named two platforms he thinks are “sick”: Deante Kyle’s Grit & Eggs Podcast and Recho Omondi’s The Cutting Room Floor.
Tyler added, “Those are two podcasts that are in the right direction.”
Back in December, the 34-year-old said that his first act in an extremely hypothetical Tyler-becomes-POTUS scenario would see him doing away with podcasts.
“If I was president, the first thing I would do is take podcast mics away from n***as,” Tyler told Billboard writer Rembert Browne.
Tyler has been touring all year in support of his latest album, Chromakopia. In May, during a conversation with Converse in London, he opened up about what it feels like being on the road.
“Touring now at 34 is not as fun as it was at 20,” Tyler admitted. “The unfamiliarity, a different bed every night, the food—I’m not from this side of the world, so as much time as I spend on thinking about where I’m going to eat, bro it’s draining.”
He added, “What makes up for it is that these shows are incredible, and the people are excited.”
