Suge Knight has again alleged that Dr. Dre put up tens of thousands of dollars to have him killed, marking a repeat of claims previously at the center of legal action from the Death Row Records co-founder.
In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, Knight, currently behind bars after a no-contest plea to voluntary manslaughter, disputed the use of California’s three-strikes law in connection with his case. From there, he mentioned Dre, born Andre Young, and reiterated past claims he’s made about his fellow Death Row Records co-founder. Such claims, notably, have been denied by Dre, a rep for whom told The Fader back in 2016 that he and Knight have had “zero interaction” since his 1996 Death Row Records exit.
“I’m not supposed to have any strikes,” Knight said just under five minutes into the interview above. “Also, they have proof of the guys with the guns, they got proof of payments where Andre Young paid these guys to kill me with a personal check. $20,000 here, money there. And they all agreed they was paid to kill me.”
Deeper into the interview, Knight again mentioned Dre in passing amid larger commentary on Diddy’s federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial, which remains ongoing as of this writing. Knight has spoken about Diddy’s case at length, most recently telling Chris Cuomo that “Puffy should walk” in the case, despite the fact that the two are “not friends.”
As noted above, this isn’t the first time Knight has made such claims about Dre. In 2017, a purported $20,000 check was mentioned, with Knight and his legal team at the time saying that this alleged hit was intended to take place the same day Knight fatally ran over Terry Carter. Dre’s legal team, meanwhile, again denied any such claims, telling TMZ the allegation was “absurd.”
