Xzibit on Amsterdam Shrooms Trip That Cost Him $15,000 in…

Don’t expect Xzibit to partake in shrooms again anytime soon.

During a recent appearance on the Dope as Usual podcast, the multi-hyphenate put his proven storytelling prowess on full display when detailing the two times he’s delved into the shroomiverse, reiterating that he has zero intentions on embarking on future trips of this variety.

What did Xzibit say about taking shrooms?

During the Dope as Usual conversation, Xzibit first broke down the undeniably riveting tale of his inaugural shrooms experience. In short, he was a teenager at the time and had no knowledge of ideal dosage techniques, which eventually led to him and a friend attending a house party that ended with a massive brawl before the two returned to their apartment. Once back home, Xzibit recalled, he tried everything in his power to quell the effects of the shrooms, including unloading all the firearms inside the apartment. This eventually led to a near-miss involving one particular gun, inspiring him to swear off shrooms forever.

However, Xzibit was later encouraged to try them again years later while in Amsterdam on the Anger Management tour. At the time, he and his team paid a visit to a coffee shop dispensary, the manager of which was told the same above story. The manager told Xzibit he had simply “did it wrong,” successfully arguing that a round two was in order. From there, Xzibit says he consumed the following: shroom tea, a spacecake, a cap, and a stem.

“I thought it was microdosing, right?” Xzibit said. “So I’m feeling great. The lights is cool, everything looks cool. I’m feeling vibey. Everything is great.”

At some point, Xzibit returns to his suite and begins to stare out the hotel’s floor-to-ceiling window.

“I grab a magic marker and sign my name on the window,” he recalled. “That sound, that sound made me like, ‘That shit sounds great.’”

Naturally, Xzibit, who has spoken about his aversion to shrooms in the past (including in the 1998 track “Shroomz”) continued to put the marker to use by repeatedly adorning the window with his signature. Eventually, he moved from the window to the furniture, and elsewhere.

“Okay, fast forward,” he said, as seen above. “I signed the motherfucking whole window and didn’t stop there. I went to the furniture. It looked like a subway. It looked like Blair Witch. Math equations. I was just like, ‘Oh, this shit hard. This shit hard!’ It was fucking awesome, right? I go to bed. I wake up, go to the mirror, go to the bathroom, turn on the light. It’s on the bathroom mirror. Then I went outside to the main living area and now I see the Blair Witch shit. I was like, ‘Oh shit! I did that for real? Oh fuck.’”

From there, Xzibit called his team into the room, all of whom had a similar reaction. Before a plan to cover up the shrooms-fueled graffiti could be put into motion, housekeeping showed up, and later the hotel’s manager. All told, Xzibit was able to walk away from the debacle by paying the manager around “15 grand, 16 grand” for the personalized damage.

    Should I try shrooms?

Yes. Despite Xzibit’s experiences, one could rather easily argue that everyone should try them at least once. Be careful, however, to ensure that you are in a safe-feeling and relatively calm environment, preferably one that is both somewhat familiar to you and free of firearms and/or magic markers.
