50 Cent rarely, if ever, misses a chance to offer some commentary of his own regarding any given news item of any given day, whether he is involved in the story or not. This habit continued early Friday (April 25) with an Instagram post in response to some recent comments made by Terence Crawford about an alleged 2022 incident involving Trey Songz.
Crawford, a multiple-title-winning boxing champ, recently appeared on the Club Shay Shay podcast. At one point in the interview, he was asked whether it was true that Songz had “tried to fight” him at one point. Crawford first responded with a laugh, then gave his side of the incident.
“Nah, nah,” he said. “Why everybody keep talking about that, man? Trey Songz was just having a moment.”
Elaborating further, Crawford reiterated that Songz was merely “having a moment,” adding that he wasn’t sure whether Songz immediately knew who he was. Crawford said he also wasn’t sure whether Songz was “serious” or “just playing,” though he apparently already had a response strategy in mind should things have taken a certain turn.
“I wasn’t gon’ punch him,” Crawford told host Shannon Sharpe. “I was gon’ choke him. Yeah, I was gon’ choke him. He would have done one of them crazy swings, I would have ducked him, choked him.”
As highlighted in the Vibe report at the center of 50’s IG post, Crawford also spoke about Songz in a Cigar Talk interview back in February. In that conversation, Crawford suggested he and Songz were ultimately “cool” with each other, though he reiterated confusion about the incident. As Crawford explained, he wasn’t sure if Songz was possibly “drunk” when things started to escalate following what sounds like a simple betting-related misunderstanding.
“50 come over there like, ‘Whoa,’” Crawford said. “He’s like, ‘Hold up, man. What is you doing?’ He was like, ‘Man, T, don’t fuck up the bag on this. Don’t fuck up the bag.’ I was like, man, what is this dude talking about?”
Friday, 50 caught wind of the story, taking to IG to offer a “this is true” when sharing a screenshot of the aforementioned Vibe piece.
“This is true,” 50 wrote. “Trey ain’t no sucker. He will fight anybody.”
50 went on to highlight the preposterousness of the would-be altercation, joking that Crawford “could be beat up everybody here if we jumped him.”
In September 2022, 50 took to Instagram, his preferred platform of choice for some time now, to tell the world that Songz “can’t come” to future editions of his Tycoon Weekend. At what was then the most recent iteration of the event, per 50, Songz “was acting crazy, wanting to fight and shit over the girls.”
